Joanie L. Macy, 58, of Carmel, IN, passed away on June 9, 2016. She was born June 26, 1957 in Greenfield, IN to Fred A. and Judith D. (Giltner) Sachs. Joanie graduated from Broad Ripple High School and went on to a career in the dental field, first as a dental assistant and then as an office manager, working for Fishers Dental Care for more than twenty years.

Joanie was a known for her love of singing, gardening and sharing the harvest with friends and family. Always willing to try new things, she enjoyed trying new recipes and was the consummate hostess. She enjoyed being with friends and going to the Friday night concerts at Cool Creek with her extended group of friends. Joanie also loved her pets.

Joanie is survived by her loving husband Thomas H. Porteous, her two Landseer Newfoundlands, Newton and Holly, brother Timothy (Tamara) Sachs, niece Teagan Sachs, brother Christopher Sachs, and her mother Judith D. Sachs.

A memorial service will held at 3:30 on June 21,2016 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250 with a visitation at 2:30. Joanie asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hamilton county Humane Society.
