Joan Simpson, 97, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 10, 2016. She was born on October 16, 1918 in Indianapolis to Ray and Mary Eccles. Joan completed the Indianapolis Academy of Commercial Art in 1938. Later in life, she worked in the Anatomy and Dermatology Departments of the IU Medical Center for 9 years. Joan is survived by her children, James F (Dee) Simpson and Judith Simpson; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Simpson. Joan will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Washington Park East Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Donations may be made in her memory to the church or to American Village Nursing Home, Activity Department for the Long Term Care.
