Joan Caroline Wright (Eilerman)
January 29, 1942-April 5, 2017
Joan Caroline Wright passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born in Lima, Ohio to Leonard and Margaret Eilerman and spent her younger years surrounded by her brother and sisters. She attended Lima Central Catholic High School and graduated in 1960. She then married and began building a family. While raising a family, she typified a modern working woman who juggled her children’s sporting events and activities while working full-time. She prided herself on making her home a place where her children and their friends could spend time together and she loved having a full house. She did the best that she could with the children that she was given. Even though she earned some grey hairs during their childhood, she was proud of their accomplishments and talked about them often.
In her early career at Zayre’s Department Store, she sold appliances and quickly rose up the chain of management. She was proud to own a microwave when it first came out and her house touted several TVs that she had won as sales incentives. She had a standing Thursday hair appointment at the hair salon and she rarely missed an opportunity to get her hair done. After her children were grown, she continued to excel in her career and found a place leading people in many arenas of retail. Joan knew how to connect well with co-workers and left a lasting legacy in the lives of many. She was well known for being fashionably late, but she did always look good when she got there.
Into retirement, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren growing up and spending time with her family. Due to an illness, she spent several years at a senior living facility. However, that did not stop her from creating great friendships. With her sense of humor and sass, she had a reputation of yelling “BINGO” during some intense Bingo games when she wasn’t even playing. This caused the other residents to clear their cards, and it eventually caused her to get kicked out those Bingo games. Her sass and sense of humor are just a few of the things that her family will miss.
Joan leaves behind four children, Debbie Donley (Curtis), Darren Wright (Cindy), Jim Wright (Karen), and John Wright (Jennifer). She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Jess Berryhill, Billy Berryhill, Ashley Wright, Cody Wright, Casey Wright, Kaitlyn Wright, Reagan Wright, Nolan Wright, and three great-grandchildren, Briley Berryhill, Camden Wright, and Skylah Wright. She leaves behind two sisters, Sue Auer (Barry) and Joyce Klausing as well as a lot of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Leonard and Margaret Eilerman, brother Joe Eilerman, and sisters Barb Gamble, Janet Schafer, and Mary Mead.
Arrangements will be provided by Indiana Funeral Care. The visitation will be Monday, April 10th from 6:00-8:00 at Horizon Christian Fellowship at 7702 Indian Lake Rd, Indianapolis, IN. The funeral will take place Tuesday, April 11th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Old Oaklandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Tim Tebow Foundation.
