
Jean Louise Guion, 88, of Carmel, passed away Dec.30, 2015. Born in Cleveland Heights, OH on November 8, 1927 to the late Herbert and Marion (Arnott) Zettelmeyer.
Jean met her future husband Philip Ronald Guion while attending
Northwestern University. Jean was a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta
Sorority during her years at Northwestern. After graduation Jean and Phil were
married on July 16, 1949. They lived for a short time in Chicago, then moved
to Milwaukee, WI, Stevens Point, WI, then back to Milwaukee. In 1957 they
moved to Indianapolis with their three children.
Jean’s proud vocation was being a homemaker. She was an avid
gardener, reader, bridge player, and bird watcher. She helped with both the
boys in Cub Scouts and as a brownie leader for her daughter. After Jean and
Phil became empty nesters in 1977 they moved to Montague, MI where they
had a summer cottage on White Lake. They built their dream home and spent
the next 22 years boating, traveling and enjoying life in a small town. Winters
were spent at Spanish Main in Long Boat Key, FL. Jean moved to Carmel, IN
after her husband died in 1999.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Philip on Dec. 31, 1999.
Jean is survived by her sister, Mary Mann (East Cleveland, OH), her three
children, Edward (Camille) Guion (Racine,WI) , Peter (Susan) Guion
(Alpharetta, GA), Marty (Michael) McCarty (Carmel, IN), 8 Grandchildren,
Hannah, Haley and Mia Guion, Joe (Juli) Guion, Matt(Krissy) Guion,
Jack (Meg) McCarty, Maggie (Ryan) Flynn, and Anne McCarty, 7 Great
Grandchildren, Eloise and Miles Guion, Grace and Charlie McCarty, and Cody,
Lily, and Jackson Guion.
There will be a Memorial Service celebrating Jean’s life on January 23, 3
pm at St Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4780 E. 126th St, Carmel, IN 46033.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association,
Greater Indianapolis Chapter, 50 E. 91st St, suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240, or to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at the address above for the church.
