Irene Burch Brunner, 91, born June 22, 1922, died November 3, 2013, at her apartment in Indianapolis. A Washington, D.C. native, Mrs. Brunner was a resident of Shelbyville, IN, for more than 65 years. In D.C., Irene worked for Pennsylvania Central airline; she was later employed at Shelby Title in Shelbyville. After retiring, Irene did volunteer work with Major Hospital and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She was an animal lover and patron of the performing arts who enjoyed hosting parties for family and friends, travelling, golfing and playing bridge.
Married to Donald L. Brunner from 1943 until his death in 1976, Irene is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Lydia Brunner, Patrick and Ann Brunner, Tracy Brunner and Patrick Webb, as well as 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. At Irene’s request, a memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.
