Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Indiana Funeral Care; Harry W. Moore Chapel at 1:30 pm with visitation from 12:30 until the 1:30 service time. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Arrangements entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care.

Herman Habegger was born on July 4, 1923 (later his daughter, Julie, and grandson, Jake, were born on July 4 as well!). He passed away on July 25, 2017, and joined his beloved Esther in heaven.

He lived life well, traveled to four continents with Esther, and bestowed many unheralded kindnesses to people all over the world and here at home in Indianapolis.
He graduated as valedictorian from Monroe High School (IN) in 1941, served in WWII from 1943-1946, attended Indiana Institute of Technology through the GI Bill, received a degree in electrical engineering in 1948 with further education at Purdue University and The Ohio State University. After his long career as an engineer for Naval Air Warfare Center in Indianapolis and then Science Applications International Corporation, he finished one of the greatest accomplishments of his life when, at age 90, he published a book entitled Mysteries of the Universe and Planet Earth. The book reveals the absolute convergence of modern science discoveries and Biblical creation history. Esther, his wife of 68 years, supported him all the way!

He is survived by his four children, Rebecca Mundy (CW), Julia Green (Kevin), Sara Cala (Terry), and Joseph Habegger, along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, who all love him very much and will miss him dearly!

I considered Herm a close personal friend. He was very kind and capable in whatever did.
One time He shared a “jewel” with me as we were talking about Esther. “She was a good ‘kisser,’ too!
Whenever any of our conversations concluded, we always used the German “Aufwiedersehen,” meaning “I’ll see you again.”
Yes, Herm and I will see each other in heaven, but–several years ago I told my wife after she mentioned how wonderful it will be when we’ll be together forever in heaven, I added, “True–but we won’t be looking at each other–Jesus will be the center of all our thoughts.”
PTL that Herm belonged to Jesus!
