Helga Gertrud Walli Meginnis (maiden name Scheffold) daughter of Eugen Scheffold and Dora Walli Scheffold (maiden name Noltze geb Borner), brother of Lothar Scheffold.
Helga lived in Indianapolis, IN and died Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the age of 78 years old at Indianapolis, IN.
Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend to many. Helga was born in Berlin, Germany on May 1st, 1941 and began her life during World War 2 with buildings crumbling around her home and sometimes using bricks from fallen buildings as toys, and experienced friends being kidnapped on the rubble-filled streets. She walked miles to and from school each day during freezing winters and all weather. She survived those years and learned the trade of seamstress. She travelled to Canada by boat looking for a new and better life. She soon moved to the USA after meeting her husband-to-be and they proceeded to marry and eventually had 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren and she also became a USA citizen. She worked very hard her entire life for her husband and family and friends, and helped others often. She was and is well loved by many near and far. She was well known for being able to sew just about anything anyone ever needed and she was also well known for painting sceneries, buildings and structures, and portraits of many people including a painting finished in March, 2017 of President Trump and Vice President Pence titled “Victory!” that she hopes will eventually make its way to the White House. She is survived by her husband Michael Meginnis (78) and her son’s Ed, Alan, and Bob and her grandchildren (Beethoven, Sebastian, Eleanor, Christoffer, Deven, Michael, Benjamin, and Alex) and great grandchildren (Autumn and Marshall). Helga and Mike married in 1962 and were married for 57 years. During their marriage they moved from Indianapolis to Kansas and Ohio, and finally settled back in Indianapolis, Indiana and lived out 40 years there.
