
Harold L. Wolfe, 89, passed away on January 7, 2016. He was born February 9, 1926, to deceased parents Charles Wolfe and Ruth Guard, in Earl Park, Indiana. After Ruth’s death, Bessie raised Harold. He was one of eight children. Harold was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Sam, Charles Jr.; and his sisters, Clytee, Kate, and Earleen. In October,1945, he married Elaine Smith and they celebrated 70 years of marriage together. They had five sons Harold “Sonny”, Terry, Kerry, Dale, and their youngest son Duane. Their daughters, Beverly and LaVonna “Bonnie” preceded their father in death, and his son, Kerry. Survivors include his wife Elaine, and sister Virginia “Jenny” Kitterman; sons, Duane, Dale (Janet), Terry (Diane) and Sonny (Carmen); grandchildren, Sonny Jr., Jodie, Craig, Erin, Heather, Chad, Aaron, Sonya, Rachael (Shelli), Jason, J’neen, Andrew, Michael, Stacey, Angie, John, and Derek; 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
Harold and Elaine farmed for 50 years and retired in 1989. He was committed to his church, community and Republican party. Harold was a recipient of The State of Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash award, Treasurer of the Benton County Republican party, and member of the Indiana Agricultural Committee for Senator Lugar. In Illinois, the State of Illinois awarded him “Employee of the Year, while employed as a Recycling Manager. Harold was an avid Purdue Boilermaker and Chicago Cubs’ fan.
The Service to celebrate Harold’s life will take place on January 23rd, 2016, scheduled at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon at 12:00 Noon, held at North Central Church of Christ, 9015 Westfield Blvd, Indianapolis, IN, 46240.
