Geraldine “Jerri” Ann Hummel Kramer went home to be with her Savior Jesus, and a host of family members and friends, on Wednesday evening, February 22, 2017, after battling many serious illnesses valiantly and with faith, surrounded by her family. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jack and Jeannette Charnley Hummel on November 21, 1943. She attended Holy Spirit Elementary, Scecina and Warren Township high schools, graduating in 1962 from Warren Central.
She attended beauty school and worked briefly as a beautician. Once married to Joseph Kramer in 1966, she preferred to be a devoted and very loving wife, mother and homemaker.
Her main passion was her Lord Jesus. She had been a member and heavily involved over the years at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Mooresville, IN, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN, Fellowship Baptist Church in Noblesville, IN, and her final church home, Radiant Life Christian Church in Westfield, IN. Jerri was a devoted student of the Bible for most of her life, including hosting a Bible study in her home and completing a 7-year weekly course with Bible Study Fellowship. Anyone who knew Jerri knew that she loved Jesus, and the love of Jesus shone through her brightly on everyone she met. She sincerely loved people, often being drawn to the outcasts and those who were struggling.
Jerri enjoyed many years of camping with her family, all over the eastern half of the country and some parts of Canada. She was a busy woman when her children were at home, especially with involvement and attendance of their many sporting events, girl scouts and activities, along with attending her husband Joe’s softball and basketball games.
She was a very talented artist, who could’ve easily made a good living professionally, and she did sell a few of her paintings. But she was also a very generous and loving person, and the majority of her paintings were given away to her family and friends, and donated to raise money for different charities.
Much like her heart. She carried a genuine love, compassion and interest for every person she met, and gave freely of her love and affection as well.
Proceeding her in death are her parents, her sisters, Jill Hummel Wilkerson and Jacqueline Hummel McReynolds.
Surviving are her adoring husband of almost 51 years, Joseph ‘Joe’ Kramer, her daughters Marie ‘Angel’ Kramer Henson (Ricky), Julia Kramer Burnell, sons Eric Kramer (Gina), Marc Kramer, and Nathan Kramer. Brother Jeff Hummel (Gloria), Grandchildren Andrea Sampiere, Jeannette Kramer O’banion (James), Joe Kramer, Christian Burnell, Isaiah Burnell, Noah Burnell, Brooke Eshleman, Courtney Kramer, and Morghan Kramer. Great grandchildren Allison O’banion, Katherine O’banion, Reese Bettelon, and Lucy Kramer, and a host of beloved in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and then again from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care/Harry W. Moore Chapel 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4217 Central Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46205
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to one of her favorite charities, Life Today ministries with James and Betty Robison. https://www.lifetoday.org/

Wow, such an amazing woman your mother was, Marie. So much talent, so much love for everyone, even strangers. All gifts from Our Heavenly Father above, as she was a gift, as well. I wish I had been able to have had the opportunity to meet her. All who knew her are blessed to have known her. And she was a great mother, as is shown by you and your extremely close knit and loving family. God Bless you all as you reflect on her life and I send prayers of comfort and peace to those she left behind. Until you meet again. Love you, Mary

A girl, woman, wife, mother, friend to all! A fine example on building a close and cohesive Kramer family of sons and daughters with loving husband, Joseph (Joe). It’s through that loving care that Marie “Angel” AKA “my beauty” shines as I imagine Jerri must have shined in her prime and up until her passing. I say that with much admiration and wish I could’ve told Jerri that in person! A talented, woman of faith leaves a legacy for the Kramer family and many memories upon which to reflect, many campfires stories too I imagine … Now I know where Marie, my beauty, now I know where you get your love for nature … Thank you for taking me to Red River Gorge and Daniel Boone Forest when we first met … I’ll never forget … It will remind me of your mom, always! We shall go again, maybe down your River, too! I know you’ll miss Mom … She will find peace and solace as I feel she already has! God still lives in her! Prayers for the family and friends! Love you!

If you’ve been led to this obituary because you’ve found that it’s her name on your birth certificate, we’ve been looking for you for over 30 years, Brother. You have a large family that has wanted to know and love you for a long time. It was Mom’s greatest wish to find you.
I’ll leave my email addy, (pretenders don’t bother to email me, you’ll have to answer a couple of questions to which the answers will be on the birth certificate that only our brother will have), for you. My name is Marie, but family calls me Angel.
