In Loving Memory
George Howard (Butch) Pahl Jr, 72, died June 2, 2019 in Indianapolis IN. A funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X Church, 7200 Sarto Drive in Indianapolis on Saturday, June 22, 2019.
George/Butch was born on April 5, 1947 in Tiffin, OH to George Sr. and Marcella (Huffmon) Pahl. He met his wife, Norma, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland. Music was his life-long passion and was instrumental in their meeting at her church where he sang and played guitar for Friday night youth gatherings. They were married on April 3, 1971.
He was a retired insurance adjuster who served people after hurricane, tornado and fire disasters. He was especially affected by his service in New Orleans and surrounding areas in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. Before becoming an adjuster, he taught elementary-age special needs students. He was proud of his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from The Ohio State University, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the school’s winning football team. He graduated in 1965 from Calvert Catholic High School in Tiffin OH.
George/Butch is survived by his wife, Norma; his children Bryan (Brandi) and Darcy; his grandchildren Andrew, Matthew, Lexi, Anna, Noah, James, C.J. and Teddy; and great granddaughter Oaklynn; his brothers David (MaryAnn) and Jerry (Sylvia). He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Suzie Simmons and Sister Mary St. Paul of the Poor Clare nuns.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Monastery of Poor Clares, 3501 Rocky River Drive, Cleveland, OH 44111.
