Gaynelle Leigh High, 79 of Walkerton, IN passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1st, 2017.
Leigh was born December 27, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN and adopted by Walter M. and Gaynelle A. Denaut. On November 23, 1963 she married Charles High, who preceded her in death on July 8, 1990. Leigh was also preceded in death by her adopted parents, natural parent Arcel Roberts, one son, Jay High and 2 stepsons, Mike and Kriss High and one son in law Mike Elder.
Leigh is survived by one brother, Walter Daniel Denaut of Plainfield, three daughters, Terri (Mike) Ardeel of Mexico, Janet Elder of North Liberty, Elizabeth (Aaron) Bouts of Ohio, one son, Jon (Cheryl) Kincaid, step-daughter Terri (John) Flanagan of Plymouth. Leigh also had 12 grandchildren, Jim Kincaid, Jayson Kincaid, Amanda Tompkins, Brandon Finn and Erin Finn, Ona Bradford, Ian Bouts, Andy High, L.A. High, Ashley Escobedo, Mackenzie Northam and 20 great grandchildren. Leigh also had a close friend, Fred Schortgen who survives.
Leigh lived in Walkerton, IN until 1990 and moved to North Carolina until 2005. She has lived in the Walkerton/North Liberty area since 2005. She worked in various clerical office positions most of her life. She enjoyed nature, working puzzles and being with family.
The family would sincerely like to thank the Great Lakes Caring Hospice staff for all their care and excellent support.
