
Garfield L. Covington “Butch”, 61, of McCordsville, IN, passed quietly at his home on September 6th, 2017.
Butch was born August 29, 1956 to parents, Lowly Garfield Covington and Zola Mae Covington. He attended IPS #43 and graduated from Shortridge High School (’74). During high school he enjoyed basketball, wrestling, art, track & field, table tennis, tennis, and swimming. In 2003, he bought his beloved home in McCordsville, and there, he stayed. His house was his pride and joy. It made him happy tending to it when he was home. He was employed as a truck driver for 23 years, traveling across the country. He loved seeing everything the world had to offer from the road. Je saw some amazing things across the U.S.. When Butch had time he enjoyed playing pool, golfing, good food, jazz music, movies, and dating. His favorite song was Amazing Grace. Butch was a great man and he will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowly Garfield Covington and Zola Mae Covington; and siblings, Alice Covington and Wilford Clark.
He is survived by his brother Jerome Simpson (Lela) of Seattle, WA.; sister Zola Lucas (Thomas) of Indianapolis, IN.; and a host of other family members.

Omg I am so sorry to hear about Garfield. My heart is broken and so sad. He was my classmates neighbor and friend who I loved dearly. I’m just hearing about his passing today.
