Emily Stevens-Carmichael entered this world on July 7th 1976 and unexpectedly and suddenly departed this world on July 6th 2018. Emily loved to garden and work out in the yard, she loved her cat Lucy more than she loved most humans. Her hobbies also included shopping, reading romance & mystery novels, and watching her shows on t.v. Her favorite to this day is Little House on the Prairie. To say Emily is going to be missed is a understatement. Life will never be the same without her. She brought so much laughter into our lives. She is survived by her spouse, Brett Austin; her loving parents, Cindy and Pete Washburn; her daughter’s, Eva Nicole (her spouse Gary Maxwell) and Lily Washburn; the light of her life, the beat to her heart, her grandson James Maxwell; her brother’s, Elliott, Darrin, & Jason Washburn; her best friend of 35 years, Jessica (William) Conyer; her nieces, Haley & Nova Dunkerson; her siblings on her dad’s side, Robert & Jessica Stevens. She is preceded in death by her mamaw, papaw, and  daddy, Robert Stevens, who was there to welcome his baby girl with open arms. Viewing will be held at 11:00 am on July 12th, 2018 at Indiana Funeral Care with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Please come celebrate Emily’s life with us.

Emily and I recently reconnected on Facebook. We discovered we were only about 20 min from each other. We planned to meet up, but suddenly, she was gone from this world. I remember my little blonde haired second cousin and wish we’d reconnected sooner. We never know how much time is left. Much love, your cousin Chris

My mother will always live on in our hearts. My mommy could always make the best of every situation no matter what that may be. If ever you we’re upset or feeling down she was always there for anyone. Her smile will forever live on in my memories and won’t ever be forgotten. She was there to watch her first grandson’s (James Maxwell) birth and made him her whole world. Although she wasn’t here to meet her newest grandson Emerson, (named after his amazing mamaw), we can safely in our hearts completely %100 know that she would have loved him with all her heart and soul just as she did with my sister Lily, my first son James, and my spouse Gary. We all love you Mom and we will always miss having you here. We are all so blessed to have all the loving happy memories you gifted us with.

At some point in the day, every day, I miss my sister. Know that she is now in a better place. There are times it just hits me like a truck that she is gone. But I must now take solace in the moments that we shared. Emily always had a fee spirit, and a smile that could light up a room. Miss you so much kid!

At some point in the day, every day, I miss my sister. Know that she is now in a better place. There are times it just hits me like a truck that she is gone. But I must now take solace in the moments that we shared. Emily always had a free spirit, and a smile that could light up a room. Miss you so much kid!
