Eleanor H. Pike, 91, New Palestine, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015. She was born July 20, 1924 in Elmer, New Jersey. Following graduation from high school, Ellie served as a civilian employee of the War Department during World War II. While on a military plane to Germany, she accepted a cup of coffee from John Louis Pike, a handsome young Army Air Force gentleman who became her husband on April 13, 1947, in Berlin, Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Pike traveled extensively in Europe before returning to the States.  They moved to New Palestine in 1978.  Following their retirement in 1981 from Chrysler Corporation, they traveled throughout the United States in their motor home. Ellie was active in Girl Scouts of America and was a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield, the Philatelic Stamp Club, and the Museum of Miniature Houses in Carmel.

Surviving are her sister Nita (George) Moyer of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; brother Gene (Thelma) Welsch of Gainesville, Georgia; daughters Cheryl (Greg) Holbrook, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and Nancy (Ron) Harris of Beech Grove; son John (Jacqualine) of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Harris of Beech Grove, Spencer (Andreea) Harris of Florida, Jeremy (Christa) Pike of Greenfield, Scott and Stacey Holbrook of Phoenix Arizona, John Ryan Pike of Indianapolis, Quinten (Whittley) Pike of Indianapolis, and Aaron J. (Amber) Pike of McCordsville; and seven great-grandchildren, Airen Pike of Gas City, Kailee and Hannah Monroe, Caden Pike, Sophia Pike, all of McCordsville, Christopher Pike of Indianapolis, and Jace Pike of Greenfield.
Preceding her in death are parents Bruno Otto and Katherine (Puljer) Welsch of Florida; husband John Louis Pike; sons John Pike, Jr and Jeffrey Louis Pike; brothers Otto (Elsie) Welsch of Pennsylvania and Harold (Doris) Welsch of Florida.
A memorial service will take place at Wallace Street Evangelical Church, 4805 E 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46201 at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2016, with visitation two hours prior to the service.
