
Eileen Frances (Kohls) Dunham, 64, lost her battle with cancer and went to Heaven on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:40 p.m. at St. Vincent Hospice, where she was cared for since January 8, 2017.
She was born on November 10, 1952 to Donald and Dorothy (Gates) Kohls in Lakewood, Ohio. Eileen grew up in Avon, Ohio. She graduated from Avon High School in 1971.
Eileen was employed as a chef/cook most of her life, most recently at Clearwater Commons Assisted Living Facility in Indianapolis. She also worked at Ford Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, OH, St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake, OH, Ben Venue Labs in Cleveland, OH, Bayview Hospital in Bayvillage, OH, and Alzona Restaurant in Avon Lake, OH.
She was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women; actively volunteering in the church office and at the hospitality table in the past. Eileen loved to visit with her loving family, reading, lighthouses, autumn leaves, embroidery, adult coloring books, tending to her flowers and plants, playing Farmville, visiting Eagle Creek Park and state parks, watching WNBA games, the Opryland Hotel, and being around the water – especially St. Pete Beach, FL and the Great Lakes.
Eileen is survived by her partner of 15 ½ years, Beth Christie, of Indianapolis; daughter, Jennifer Dunham of St. Petersburg, FL; brothers, Thomas (Karin) Kohls of Delaware, OH and Richard (Jean) Kohls of Elyeria, OH; sister-in-law, Gail (Joe) Kohls-Gonzales of Lorain, OH; nieces, Alex (Mike) McLean, Amanda (Justen) McMahan, Kaitlin Kohls and Natalie Kohls; nephews, Bill (Tracy) Kohls and John Kohls; great nieces, Paige Kohls and Ellie McLean; great nephew, David Kohls; aunts, Diane (Dennis) Jamieson of Warren, OH, Evelyn McClure of Fremont, IN, and Gladys Gates, of Avon, OH; uncle, Joe (Jane) Uphaus of Glandorf, OH; special friends, Myrna Richardson, Pat Pierson, Mary & Jack Kondrath, Michelle Trigalet Emigh, and Cheryl Borell; and many wonderful church friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and, brother, Robert Kohls.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the chapel at Broadway United Methodist Church, 609 E. 29th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46205. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Eileen will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery following the celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
