Dorothy Tinnin Gochnauer, 88, of Carmel, IN, and previously of Towson, MD, passed away on February 19, 2017. She was born on February 28, 1928, in Fayetteville, NC, to George W. and Louise B. Tinnin.

Dorothy graduated from Duke University in 1949, and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and the Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Society. Dorothy taught in the Baltimore County Public Schools for more than 25 years, and she was listed in “Who’s Who among American Teachers”. She was a member of The Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore, MD, and she most recently attended Carmel United Methodist Church in Carmel, IN.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Richard B. Gochnauer, Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Catherine G. and James Groschan; son and daughter-in-law, Richard B. and Alta H. Gochnauer, Jr.; and 6 grandchildren, Richard W. Gochnauer, Emily Groschan, Sarah Groschan, Sara Gochnauer, Patrick Groschan, and Seth Gochnauer. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marie T. Stewart, of Fayetteville, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Carmel United Methodist Church, 621 S. Range Line Road, Carmel, IN 46032.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to Carmel United Methodist Church. Internment of Dorothy’s ashes will be at 11: 30 a.m. on Sunday, April 2 at Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore, MD.
