Indianapolis–Dorothy “Dottie” Benson, 88, passed on May 11, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospice.

Dottie was a hair stylist/salon owner for over 60 years in Indianapolis.  She was active in the Frankton Lions Club.  Dottie and her husband, Carroll, are members of Frankton United Methodist Church, and also attend The Garden/St. Luke’s UMC.  She formerly resided in Elwood for 20 years before returning to Indianapolis in 2001.

Dottie is survived by her husband, Carroll; children, Michael Chappell, Stephen J. Chappell, and Sue Chappell-Harmas; step-children, David Benson and Lydia Davies; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, with visitation preceding from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Elwood Cemetery.
