Dorman J. Blackburn, 92 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed into the arms of Jesus on June 7, 2018. He was born on February 25, 1926 to Joseph and Mary (Martin)
Blackburn in Cincinnati, Ohio.
After his return from serving our country in the Navy during WWll, he began his career at Citizens Gas and Coke Utility in Indianapolis and met the love of his life, Bertha Louise Branson. September 25, 2018 would be their 70th wedding anniversary.
Over the years, Dorman enjoyed baseball, bowling, golf, horse racing and traveling. He was a former member of Wallace Street Presbyterian Church and a member of the Brookside Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine.
Dorman, along with his wife, Bertha were the owners of the Arlington Hair Salon until their retirement in 1992. The couple also lovingly and generously opened their home as caregivers to many family members. He often referred to himself as “Mr Wonderful”, but his family called him “Paps”.
Dorman is survived by his wife, Bertha (Branson) Blackburn, daughter Theresa (Bob) Wilson, grandsons Rob (Christy) Wilson, Greg (Christine) Wilson, Andy (Danae) Wilson and 6 great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Park on June 11, 2018. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Greater Indiana Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E 91st Street Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240
