Doris M. (Graham) Lyons, 82, passed away April 15, 2015 in Indianapolis.
She was born September 11, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Dorothy and Thornton Graham.
She was a life-long resident of Indianapolis, as well as a dual resident of Longboat Key, Florida.
She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1950 and from Butler University in 1954 with academic honors as a member of Scarlet Quill and Sigma Tau Delta, among others. At Butler, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and an active alumnus. Other organizations that she belonged to were Hillcrest Country Club and The Riviera Club in Indianapolis, and Bird Key Yacht Club and Longboat Key Club in Longboat Key, Florida. Her family business was Graham Electronics, based in Indianapolis.
Doris was an avid gardener, bridge and golf player, had a love of swimming and the beach, and a very loyal friend to many.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (William III) Freije, Cynthia (James) Schrader, and Wendy (Charles) Goodwin; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gordon Graham.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Lyons, in 2008; and her sister, Donna (Graham) McCoy.
Friends and family may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
