Jean was the daughter of Fred and Doris McGuire and beloved sister to John Kenneth McGuire (who preceded her in death). She married Robert E. Cooper I (deceased) with whom she had four children, later becoming the wife of William Wade Nowacki, Sr. (deceased), adding two more children to their family. Jean worked as a guard at the Indiana Women’s Prison for 23 years. After retiring, she worked part-time at Wal-Mart in Greencastle, IN, over 7 years in several departments, but enjoying working in the floral department the most, and was affectionately known as “Doris the Florist.” When she finally quit working, Jean enjoyed her passion, fishing! She took every opportunity she could to enjoy fishing with her family and friends.
She kept her mind sharp by reading several books a week and doing crosswork puzzles, and she enjoyed playing BINGO. She was also an avid sports fan. She loved watching her favorite college basketball team, I.U., and her favorite NFL teams, the Green Bay PAckers and the Indianapolis Colts, and didn’t miss a televised game, and her family knew not to call her during game time. She was quick-witted, had a sense of humor, and was a terrific cook.
Jean is survived by her childhood best friend of 68 years, Margie Ferguson; sister Heanther Jane McGuire of North Carolina; and her children, Kathy Dietz (Bud), Pittsboro, IN, Robert “Bob” Cooper, Calloway, MD, John Cooper, Indianapolis, IN, Suzanne Hall (Jack), Cloverdale, IN, William Wade Nowacki, Jr. (Mindy), Indianapolis, IN, and Jay Nowacki (Cindy), Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Laura Dietz-Poland, Robert, Rita, Richard, and Raymond Cooper, Chelsea Nowacki, Dalton and Patty Cooper, Ashlee Hall Sappingfield, Zachary Hall, Emily nOwacki, and Jonathan Frost; great-grandchildren, Brooke Cooper, Keith and Kent Poland, R.J. and Hayden Sappingfield; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She adored her little dog Charlee who was her constant companion. Charlee also survives her.
Per her wishes, there will be no services. Her family wil lgather at a later date to celebrate her life.
