    Dear Priscilla and Nancy,
We were disappointed that we were unable to attend your Mother’s funeral. Your Mother was a very special person to all. We visited her one week ago and she made a strong witness of her faith to us as she did to many throughout her remarkable life. The Heavens are rejoicing.

I feel blessed to have gotten to know Doris through her volunteer work at North Church in Indianapolis. I am so sorry I was unable to attend her funeral. Doris was dignity and class personified. She had nothing but thoughtful and kind words to say. I will miss her very much.

I just learned of your mother’s death when I received a note in a Christmas card from George and Phyllis Ballentine. My condolences to you. Your mother and father played an active role in my parent’s lives and mine as well. She was a strong woman and had great impact on many. Your father was a wonderful and kind man. Doris used to say that she wanted to go in Bill’s pocket when he died. She had to live many years without him and she seemed to have stayed strong and courageous. I wish you all the best in this time.
