Donald Eugene Kennedy, born July 6, 1930, beloved husband of Adrienne Kennedy, went home to be with our lord on Saturday, April 9, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Frida and Robert Miller, who raised him.

Donald, who was known to his family and friends as Kennedy, was active in dog training and dog shows.

He worked as a machinist at Schwitzer and Navel Avionics. He was a captain of a chartering service for fishing on Lake Michigan, a driver for Boat Land, and worked for Gilliatte Construction.

Kennedy was involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a scout master, R.C. cars, Mustang cars, Kennedy Kennels in Fishers, and the Indianapolis Gun Club. He was a life time member of the NRA, a Golden Glove Boxer, and a fan of Butler basketball.

He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School.

Kennedy was very proud to serve his country in the United States Army.

He is the father of Todd and Scott Kennedy, and step-father to Linda (Randy) Patrick, Bryan (Penny) Akers, Luanne Lilly, Morris (Cindy) Akers, Timothy (Kim) Akers, and Tony Edwards Jr.  He has 27 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Kennedy was a member of Fairland United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodland Chapel, 9350 E. Washington St. Indianapolis. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Arrangements are being handled by Indiana Funeral Care. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Fairland United Methodist Church.
