Dolores Joann (Halter) Du Bois, 85, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in Indianapolis.
She was born on February 21, 1929 in Detroit, MI, to Raymond A. and Mildred (Brocksmith) Halter. As a young child, she returned with her parents and sister to their hometown of Vincennes, IN. After graduating from Lincoln High School, Joann earned a Registered Nurse (RN) degree from Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. She married James E. Du Bois on July 30, 1951 in Vincennes and the couple moved to South Bend, IN.
Joann is survived by her six children: Jeffrey (Jeanne) Du Bois of South Bend; Jeanne (Stephen) Langendorfer of Bowling Green, OH; Janine “Jan” (Paul) Janssen of New Castle, IN; Joel (Sharon McNeill) Du Bois of Dubai, UAE; James “Jay” (Debbie) Du Bois of West Dundee, IL; Julia “Julie” (Robert) Nist of Fishers, IN; two nephews, Michael (Mary) Hartigan, Vincennes, and Joseph (Kathy) Hartigan, Decker, IN; 17 grandchildren (Matthew Du Bois, Mark Du Bois, Anne Langendorfer, Caroline Langendorfer Broeren, Patrick Langendorfer, Cari Janssen, Carly Janssen, October Smith, Summer Darnell, Alex Du Bois, Martin Saso, Christy Olson, Beth Ann Rennich, Christopher Du Bois, Claire Nist, Laura Nist, Reilly Nist) and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister, Patricia Hartigan.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 24, 2014 in Holy Spirit Parish at Geist Catholic Church, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN where family and friends are invited to gather from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place on the same day at 3:00pm at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Vincennes, IN.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Saint Patrick Church, 309 South Taylor Street, South Bend, IN 46601 or to a hospice or food bank of your choice.
