David E. Harris, 78, Indianapolis, IN passed away May 21, 2016.  Born May 8, 1938 in Terre Haute, IN to Chester E. and Mary M. Harris.  He graduated from Staunton Indiana High School and then went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree at Indiana University, John Herron School of Art.

Over the years Dave worked as an artist for Hallmark Cards, a graphics manager for Cummins and then later co-owned his own business with wife Beverly, Solitaire Enterprise.

Dave was a model train enthusiast, he loved collecting them and had an entire room filled with them. He had at least 6 engines and 3 of them were computerized.  He also enjoyed collecting stamps of the United States and had quite a collection.  One of his biggest passions was gardening.  At one point he wanted to take classes to learn more about it but then decided to get a job at a landscape company and learn while making money and doing what he loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents Chester E. Harris and Mary M. Harris.

He is survived by his wife; Beverly, daughter; Dawn George (Brad), daughter; Angela Lee, son David Harris Jr. (Celina), grandchildren; Alexander Lee, Molly Harris, Henry Harris, and sister; Linda Cutrell.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28th at 12:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Church at the Crossing 9100 Haverstick, Indianapolis, IN 46240.

A reception will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Wolfie’s Grill – Carmel 1162 Keystone Way, Carmel, IN 46032
