Curtis (Curt) L. Frank Jr., 70, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016. He was born February 2, 1946 in Owensboro, KY to Curtis L. Frank Sr. and Mary Rose Frank.
Curt is survived by his wife, Marlene, two daughters, Rene (Tony) Keaton, Whitney (Drew) Hill, and four grandchildren. His mother, father, brother George Frank, and sister Patti Rose Frank preceded Curt in death.
Curt graduated in 1964 from Rex Mundi H.S. in Evansville and from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Curt began his engineering career in 1967 at the Naval Avionics Facility Indianapolis (NAFI) working on military aircraft and advanced military controls. Throughout Curt’s professional career, he received countless awards and letters of appreciation. He retired from NAFI in 1997 but continued working on the advanced projects with Raytheon until retiring in 2013. Curt enjoyed his job and worked in the same building for 46 years. Curt met Marlene (Braun) Frank, the love of his life, in 1967. They married
in 1970. They celebrated 45 years together resulting in two daughters and four grandchildren.
Curt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother had many accomplishments and hobbies in his life. Curt became a pilot in 1978 enjoying many trips throughout Indiana and Kentucky. He was a train enthusiast and a member of the Indiana Transportation museum. He enjoyed photography and utilized his skills as a wedding photographer in the 1980s. However, he would say his biggest accomplishment was his family. His family was his life.
After retirement, Curt and his wife traveled the world visiting eight countries and four continents together. He loved working the Daily Jumble, watching old movies or shows associated with WWII and spending time with the kids and grandkids.
A Celebration of His Life open house will be held Sunday, April 24, 2016, 1-5pm at the Roy. G. Holland Memorial Park Building, 1 Park Dr., Fishers, IN 46038.
Cremation services provided by Indiana Funeral Care. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Indiana Audubon Society or your favorite charity.

In the aviation world we use the phrase “Headed West”. It’s a refrence used for the setting sun. Curt Frank has headed west into bluer skies.

Kathy and I were shocked when we found Curt’s obit in the Dubois County Herald… We are truly sad for your and our loses!
As you know, Curt was one of the dozen or so classmates from RM that could finish each other’s sentences. We were tighter than family.
I am sending the article from the Herald to Sr. Teresa Marie who was the math teacher at RM. She directed “The King and Pi” in which Curt had the leading role of the King (ala Yul Brener). Happy times.

I am so sorry for your loss. Curt was a great support to me at work and a wonderful friend. We used to joke that he was my “right hand man” while Randy Forgey was my “left hand man”. I will miss him terribly. May his memory be for a blessing.
