Mr. Charles Vernon Shaw, age 79, of Rushville, Indiana entered this life on November 3, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late William Fred and Mary Bell (Hayes) Shaw.
Charles, affectionately remembered as our One-of-a-Kind Pops, Dad, Papaw, Grandpa, Charlie, Connoisseur of all things shrimp and Long’s donuts, enjoyed living life to the fullest. When he wasn’t busy running his successful machine shop or taking care of things around the farm, he loved traveling throughout the country and seeing the sights from coast to coast. He loved taking care of his late dog, Bones and horse, Jennifer. Charles was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and gave many just what they needed at the right moment. Charles loved God and his family most of all. He was unashamedly Old School and taught us what hard work and success looked like. He was “A Man’s Man” for sure; an excellent provider and protector. Like all great men, history will prove there was only one Charlie Shaw and in his own words, “What a trip” he was. We love him dearly and are eternally grateful for him and all that he did for us.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Shaw of Rushville, Indiana; his loving children, Chuck Shaw and his wife Gina of Indianapolis, Indiana; Tammie Witt of Brazil, Indiana; and Stephanie Roos and her husband David of Brownsburg, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving Charles are loving sisters, Linda Lu and Myrna.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brothers Fred (Tudy), Jim, Walter (Fats), and Bob, and sisters, Norma Jean and Lula Mae.

Dad I love you so much. I’m very sad that we didn’t get to spend many more years together. You were the best daddy a girl could have in her life. You were generous and loving. I will be with you again. Love you daddy.

Loretta, so sorry for your great loss. I remember Charles as good neighbor, fellow church attender, and a friend who told it to you straight . He said what you needed vs. wanted to hear. He did this in a manner in which you always felt cared for. That kind of person is hard to find . Thinking and praying esp. for you now.
