
On the morning of Friday, November 27, 2015, Cathy passed away peacefully in her home in Carmel, Indiana. Cathy was 71 years old.
Cathy (O’Regan) Southern was born in the town of Tralee, Ireland. She was the third child, and the first daughter, of Cornelius and Mary O’Regan.
Cathy was a wife for 47 years to Gordon, and proud mother to her 2 sons, David and Colin. She grew up in the town of Tralee, Ireland; married in 1968. She immigrated to America on the Donnelly Visa in 1988. Cathy spent the majority of her professional career working for AT&T, retiring in 2008. All those who met her were a friend, and were blessed with her gift of gab. She would often talk about her fond memories of Ireland and could gladly tell any stranger their ancestry lineage.
She was often known to tell a great story and often more than once. She volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital, and also a member and 3-year President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post #10003. She enjoyed spoiling her faithful German Shepherd named Bosco.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon; sons, Colin and David; grandson, Teagan; brothers, Michael, Brian, Connie; nephews Michael, Brian Oge, Liam, Connie; and nieces, Mary, Catharine, Siobhan.
Memorial services will be held at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250, on Sunday, December 6th 2015. Viewing will start at 12pm, with a brief service at 2pm. After the 2pm service the Southern Family would like to invite all to celebrate Cathy’s life with refreshments starting at 3 pm 6 December 2015 at the Carmel Veterans of Foreign War Post 10003, 12863 N Meridian St, Carmel, IN 46032.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be given to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10003 in Cathy’s name.
