Carl R. Winchester, 70, brother to Phyllis Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born in Georgetown, Kentucky on September 10, 1948, to the late Leslie and Lecta Johnson Winchester. He was a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, life member of VFW 261 in Lawrence, Indiana, and member & life member of Vietnam Veterans, in Kokomo, Indiana. He was a carpenter for twenty years and a truck driver for twenty years.
Along with his sister, Phyllis, he is survived by nephews, Mark Whitlock, Doug Whitlock, Robert Whitlock, Marshall Whitlock, Shawn Whitlock, Mike Whitlock, Keith Winchester, David Winchester, and a niece, Stacy Sherron. Carl was preceded in death by brothers, Albin Winchester and Kenneth Winchester.
Visitation will be Friday, January 11th from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel with services beginning at 8:00 pm with Wes Anderson officiating.
Carl will have another visitation and service back in Georgetown, Kentucky on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 8 am to 11:00 am at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home, with services for Carl beginning at 11:30 am with Shawn Whitlock officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Stacy Family Cemetery in Jabez, Kentucky. Nephews will serve as pallbearers, and David L. Kennedy, Sr., Robert Jordan, III, Donnie Powell, and Ricky D. Webb will serve as honorary pallbearers.
