On Thursday, November 24, 2016, Carl Kenneth Wise Sr. went home to be with the Lord. Carl was born in Aurora, MO on January 7, 1944 to John and Esther Wise.

Carl was raised by his grandparents; after their passing, he lived with an aunt. After high school, Carl joined the Army. He served in Germany and Korea.

When he came home from the Army, he brought with him his new wife. The had a daughter, Karen Christine. Soon they divorced, and his daughter went back to Germany with her mother.

Carl then started driving a semi-truck over the road. He drove for several different companies all over the country. Carl drove for over 40 years, and received several safe driving awards.

He met Linda (Sloan, McKinney) Wise in 1989. They were married in Thorntown, Indiana at Thorntown Southern Baptist Church on April 4, 1998. They lived in Lebanon, Thorntown, and then moved back to Lebanon.

Carl was an awesome truck driver. He had a great sense of humor, as you can tell from his CB handle “Swampturkey”, and was always helping others. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. His kids, grandkids, and great granddaughter were the joy of his life. Carl was a member of American Legion Post 113.

Carl is survived by his wife of 18 years, Linda; son, Carl Kenneth (Michelle) Wise Jr.; step sons, Gregory (Deanna) McKinney, and James McKinney; grandsons, Travis McKinney, William Wise, Austin Wise, Dakota Wise, and Rockton Wise; granddaughters, Amillia Nichole Young and Natasha Lynn Rose Wise;  great granddaughter, Maelynn Nichol Young; and many other family and friends, including, Susan Young.

Carl had been ill for a couple of years, fighting cancer and pneumonia.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
