
Jonathan Loomis Gray, beloved husband, father, and brother, age 69, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at home. Dr. Gray was born November 8, 1946, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the son of the late Donald Lineburgh Gray and Ruth Evelyn Gray. He attended elementary and high school in Rockford, Illinois. Dr. Gray received his Bachelor’s Degree and Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Illinois. He attended graduate dental school at the National Naval Dental Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Jon was Board Certified by the American Academy of Periodontics and American Academy of Oral Medicine. He served with great pride in the United States Navy Dental Corps for 21 years. After retiring from the Navy, Jon served on the faculties of the Indiana University Dental School and University of Florida Dental School.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; his adored son, Charles and wife, Sara Parker-Gray. Also surviving are sisters, Marcia (Larry) Pilbin, and Elise (Keith) Hoaglund; brother, Keith (Carol) Gray; his Uncle Jack Adams; and nephews, one niece, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Jon requested no service. The family will receive friends at home on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, P.O. Box 97229, Washington DC 20077-7804 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family wishes to express deepest gratitude to Dr. Michael Kraus and the staff of Indiana University Nephrology Clinic Meridian for exceptionally compassionate care over the last seven years as well as the loving staff of Heartland Hospice.
