Beulah M. Spilker, 96, a lifelong resident of Marion County, Indiana, died February 24, 2017 at her home.  She leaves behind a legacy of love for her family and friends, and her faith in God.

Beulah was born, in Indianapolis, to John and Viola Bradley in 1921 and was married 58 years to Roy W. Spilker, who passed away in 1997. She is survived by two sons and their wives, John (Marilyn) Spilker, and David (Janet) Spilker, daughters-in-law, Darrell Etchison and Renee Spilker, Margaret Spilker, Angela Spilker and  13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three of her children, Jim, Fred and Janice, and by her parents, her sister Thelma and three brothers, Paul, Leander, and Ralph.

Beulah graduated from Arsenal Technical HS in 1938 and married Roy in 1939. In 1947 they moved out into the country and built their first home in a 10 acre woods north of Cumberland, Indiana on German Church Road. They loved life in the country and there raised their family of five. They then built a second home on Rucker Road in Indianapolis in 1966 where they raised their youngest son.

During her children’s formative years she encouraged them in making and achieving goals, in furthering their education, developing their talents and abilities, and exploring the world with many vacations across America.  As her kids began heading off to college she worked for her brother Paul at Bradley Real Estate. She and Roy became real estate agents, bought, fixed up, managed and sold real estate in Marion County.

As empty nesters, Beulah and Roy continued their love for travel as they headed out to see the USA in their RV, along with a cruise to Alaska, trips to Mexico, Canada, Europe, an anniversary celebration to Hawaii, and a special trip to Spain with her brother Paul and his wife Georgia.  They loved to travel to see the beautiful world God created and make new friends along the way.

Living life to its fullest and reaching out to others was a top priority for Beulah and Roy, staying in touch and sharing slices of life with family and friends throughout their lives.

Among her many interests and hobbies was her love for photography. She always had a camera in hand to capture life’s precious moments and enjoyed learning all the latest new features of the latest cameras that came on the market.

She and Roy were active members of St John’s Church in Cumberland, IN while living in the country and Lawrence United Methodist Church and St Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis during their latter years.  Each week was only complete when they spent time with the Lord worshipping with fellow believers.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am on Tuesday February 28th at St Luke’s United Methodist Church at 100 W 86th Street, Indianapolis followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am and a reception and graveside service at the New Palestine Cemetery, south of New Palestine at 5050 S 500 W. Reverend Kimberly King will be conducting the services. Funeral arrangements are through Indiana Funeral Care.
