Ben passed away on August 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by parents Benjamin S and Margaret Pomeroy, survived by Brother Sherwood (Sharon); Sisters Cathy, Dawn (Darrell) Hewitt; Children Benjamin S (Michelle), Jennifer (Dan) Wolff, Phillip, Heather (Bob) Barr, their mother Julie; Grandchildren Lindsy, Kelsey, Ashley and Meghan Pomeroy, Mackenzie and Anna Wolff, Emma Pomeroy, Hadley and Hanna Barr; Great-Grandsons Payton & Levi; along with nieces, nephews and many friends plus furry friends Walter, Penny & Lucy.

Ben was born on July 23 1941, grew up in St Paul (St Anthony Park), was an Eagle Scout, graduated from Murray High School (’59), served proudly in the Air Force and graduated from the University of Minnesota (Go Gophers!). Ben was dedicated to his family and loved watching his children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren grow and attending as many of their activities as possible which often included traveling to provide encouragement & support. Ben retired in 2007 from US Bank where he worked as a Technical Project Manager.

He loved the solitude of the outdoors spending many a night during his retirement years camping under the stars while visiting as many of our National Parks as possible, traveling to Alaska and seeing this great country of ours.  Ben will be greatly missed by all who knew him but we should find peace knowing that he is “Soaring with the Eagles.”

The family would like to thank IU Hospital & Hospice, especially Melissa for the great care and respect they provided.  We’d also like to thank his friends at the Rusted Moon Outfitters and The Lego Store for all of the companionship & laughs they provided for our dad.

A celebration of his life will be held at Long Lake Regional Park, New Brighton MN on Friday September 16th from 4-7:30pm with a brief ceremony at 6pm. A private Internment will take place at House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St Paul on Friday September 16th. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The National Parks Foundation or Boy Scouts of America.

Ben, Jenny, Phillip and Heather, I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I could come to the memorial service but my daughter is getting married that weekend and we have rehearsal that evening. Please know that I am thinking about you all, and keeping sweet memories of your Dad and your whole family. Love from your cousin, Libby
