
Barbara Jean Humphrey, the only child of Nathan and Beatrice (Barber) Humphrey was born on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Barbara received her primary education from Indianapolis Public School 46 and graduated from George Washington High School. After many professional opportunities, Barbara found her calling while working at Res Care, where she retired in 2014.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She continued her walk with Christ throughout her life. She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Indianapolis and later attended Martindale Church of Christ for several years and later found her church home and became a member of Liberation AME Zion Church.
Barbara was a very strong willed, family oriented woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Her family and friends will always remember her for her wisdom and sound advice and for all the laughs they shared together.
She is survived by many extended family members including a host of cousins and friends including: Virgil McDonald, Rosemary Buntun, Susie McDonald, Dorothy McDonald, Cheryl Thompson, Linda Glass, Henry McDonald, and Carol Lee and the Holiman and Madden families; and close friends Betty Robinson, Shirley Webster, Terrion Thomson, Elizabeth Fryer, Ke’ariah Martin, Karen Battles and family.

My mother, Charlotte Parks-Fields, was a very close friend of Barbara. She was like an Aunt to me and will be greatly missed. My prayers are with her family.
