Anthony R. “Tony” Denson, age 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Roudebush VA Medical Center. He was born November 12, 1930 at St. Francis Hospital to the late Charles and Anna Denson. Tony attended Beech Grove High School and graduated in 1948. He entered the United States Army in 1951 and earned the rank of Sergeant First Class while serving in the Korean War. Tony worked at Vonnegut Hardware from 1950 to 1970, Turn Style from 1970 to 1975, and then Central Hardware from 1975 to 1988. He owned his own hardware store “Lawrence Hardware” in Oakland from 1988 until he retired and sold the business in 1993. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Brethman) Denson; his three sons, Stephen Denson and his wife Dorothy, Jeffrey Denson and his wife Vickie, and Randall Denson; and his two wonderful granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Karlie.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Indiana Funeral Care – Greenwood Chapel, 2433 East Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. In lieu of usual remembrances, direct memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care – Greenwood Chapel.
