Abdo Suleiman Rabadi, 44, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and British Columbia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital due to a recent illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
He leaves his son, Sam Rabadi, and mother, Dana Rabadi; siblings Dina Rabadi, Andrea (Ben) Roell, Linda (Jeremy) Fair, Alan (Kristen) Rabadi, and nieces and nephew Elliott, Nora, Anna and Abby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Suleiman Rabadi in 1996 and his maternal grandmother, Božena Krejcarová, in 2016.
Born in Prague, Czech Republic and raised in Indiana, Abdo graduated high school from Burris Laboratory School (1990). He received a Bachelor’s of Science, Political Science with Honors, from Ball State University (1994) where he was active in debate, Model United Nations and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He completed a law degree from Indiana University (1996) then went on to specialize in telecommunications as President of Blue Kite Consultants, based in Brittania Beach, British Columbia.
While in British Columbia, Abdo donated his time as Vice-President of the Britannia Beach Community Association where he was known for his kindness, fairness and willingness to help others. His fellow board member said, “He carried himself with the highest level of character and decorum.” Abdo’s volunteer work over his lifetime included helping inmates learn how to read and write enabling dozens of men obtain their GEDs and giving job skills training to homeless men.
Abdo was long known by his friends and family for his warmth, hospitality and humor. He had a great love of beaches, perhaps inspired by his 80’s TV icon, Magnum P.I. He was a passionate fan of Formula One racing and professional hockey, and could easily win any trivia match due to his unparalleled knowledge of history and geography. On summer days, he could regularly be found by a grill, hosting all day barbeques filled with laughter and great food. He knew no strangers, and opened his heart and home whenever possible. His siblings remember him using his high school job at Sears to buy them all Christmas presents, finding many of them their first jobs, sending his sister sixteen pink roses to school on her sixteenth birthday, dancing up a storm, singing “Genie in a Bottle” by Christina Aguilera, playing air guitar to White Snake, forgiving his sister for taking his red sports car on a joy ride while she thought he was still in South Padre Island and finally winning the family favorite game, “Taboo.”
The funeral mass service will be held at 11:00 am on January 14, 2017 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1530 Union Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider making a contribution to Sam’s college fund. Please contact the family for more information on making a contribution. Abdo’s family wishes to thank the staff of Indianapolis Methodist Hospital for the love, compassion and care they showed Abdo and his family.

I would like to offer my sincerest condolences during this difficult time, the loss of a loved one can be a painful experience and I hope you may find comfort in God’s Word the Bible, in Revelation 21:4 it mentions how death will be no more and in John 5:28,29 it says how all those in the memorial tomb will come out. So we will have the chance to see our loved ones again. For more information about this topic and much more please visit JW. org

Abdo was my Physics Lab partner at Burris and as I was an Alpha Phi at Ball State, we remained friends for many years. Abdo was brilliant, humble, funny, and selfless in his tutoring abilities. True, I could never beat him at trivial pursuit, but he made everyone enjoy the game. He was my friend, and I am deeply saddened he is gone. My thoughts are with your family, and especially Sam.

I will always remember laughter, lots of laughter when I think of Abdo. Good natured teasing and general silliness were as much a part of our physics class as actual scientific study! Intelligent, compassionate, and soulful that was the Abdo I remember.
