Story Title: Special Mother in Law,
By: carol Rainbolt
I had Known Katie, since I was 12 years old, Katie and her late husband Bob lived 2 doors from my family, I grew up around her, she was in our home , a good friend and neighbor to my Mother. I then met her son Bobby,,and married in 1972, Katie was my best friend through my whole life,She stepped in and picked me up after I lost my mother, She was a wonderful Mother in law, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, loving each one and treating all the same, And they adored her, The Memories Katie made with each grandchild is so presious, taking My 2 children and Sharons 3 at the same time at the Holidays and making ginerbread men,, placing them so sweetly on Katies tree to be eaten on Christmas Eve,,, She so looked forward to my sons Halloween partys each year, loving the spooky haunted house that he would make,, and she was not leary to go all the way through,, as long as I would hold her hand that is, Katie had a wonderful since of humor and loved to laugh and her laughter was so catching. Katie lived next door to us for some time when she was alone, and we would have bond fires in the fall and tell ghost stories, she loved that so much and would sit by the fire long after everyone had gone inside and just enjoy the warm,, but of course I would join her and we would have one of our talks, Katie knew me so very well, and knew my hurts and thoughts, and her voice and ideas could calm me down so quickly. But the most important thing I can say about Katie is how Strong of a woman she was, a breast cancer survior and she battled skin cancer so many times, I can remember the phone call I got asking me if I would shave her head for her, as her hair was coming out so fast from the chemo, I was in tears but said I would,, she came to my home , there she was in my back yard in a lawn chair , where she wanted to be, a towel around her neck and me with the darn shears, her spirts were high,, she said lets do it girl,,, so I did as I watch that hair fall,, I was sick,,,, she said,, its just hair,,,, put on her baseball cap she brought and that was that,,, not a tear or dread spoken,,, I loved her so much for her strength and I drew from it each time I was with her,,,,,,,, I love you Katie,,,, I miss you so very much,,,, its still so soon after your leaving so the tears still flow alot,,,,, time always heals they say,,, but I am not so sure,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

My precious Aunt Kate. She was always so much fun – happy and laughing. I loved her beautiful white teeth and smile!!! I’ve been told I laugh like her and I cherish that. She is with her big brother, my daddy, in heaven, in peace.
