William “Bill” Dallas Thomas

Born on March 14, 1929 the son of Fred and Francis Thomas, Bill went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2012. Being a sports enthusiast, Bill played basketball in the Air Force as a starting guard. He met his wife of 62 years, Mary Jane, while in military service for our country at Maxwell Air Force base, located in Montgomery, Alabama. They were married there on April 15, 1950.

Bill founded Thomas Associates, a manufacturers’ representative agency, in 1957 and spent 48 years dedicated to building his business. Known as a loyal and generous man, he honored his commitments, provided for his family, and placed great emphasis on giving to those in need.

He loved the Lord and during his life emphasized living in accordance with Philippians 4:6-7. Life taught him to be anxious about nothing and to trust God in all things. His loved ones will remember that the peace of God remained in him throughout the end of his days.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Arbel. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, his children, Marcy Thomas, Bill Thomas, Jr., along with wife Shellie, daughter Julie Zuber as well as her husband Randy, and son Kevin Thomas, with his wife Pat. His legacy leaves three grandchildren Melinda Williams, Debbie Brantley, and Rachael Thomas as well as three great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by sisters, Barbara Gilpin and Dorothy Schrontrup.

Bill was laid to rest with full military honors at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana, on July 31, 2012 in accordance with his wishes for a private family ceremony.
