Wayne Hornbeck
I was born in an old farmhouse, in Royal Center, Indiana, to Godly parents who loved God and His church. I was told that the first place my parents took me was to our church. So I grew up attending church almost every time the doors were open.
My childhood was one that any young boy would dream of; loving parents, that were always there when I needed them. We lived on a farm, with plenty of space and all that goes with country living.
At the age of nine, I was converted and baptized in our local church and began my journey with Christ. In my junior year of high school, I felt God’s call to the ministry. There were several preachers in my Father’s family. I tried to dismiss the calling at first as a fad, but that feeling of God’s call never changed and it hasn’t even until this day.
I have served as Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher in various areas and States for many years. One of the most memorable experiences in my years of ministry was the last eight years before I so-called, retired. I was called to start and pastor a Senior Adult Ministry for Oakford Baptist Church (Crossroad Community Church now one of the largest in the community) where I was living, in Kokomo Indiana. God blessed me in such a wonderful way, far above my abilities or even my expectations. I am still reaping God’s blessings for that endeavor.
After retiring from the ministry and twenty years of Teaching/Administrative duties in the Secondary Educational School System, I am now living in beautiful, sunny, Florida. Were I am a member and devoted to the ministries of the McGregor Baptist Church!!
He is survived by his children, Debra J Hawkins, David W. Hornbeck, Timothy Lynn Hornbeck, Rebecca A. Willis. There will be a celebration of life at Crossroad Community Church, Kokomo, IN at 2pm on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Crossroad Community Church.
