Story Title: Heck of a Guy
By: Lloyd Coward
I used to room with Doug in California during the 70’s. What a time, and what a Guy. We had a couple of different places, did the “hippy” thing, sort of. Fresh out of the Air Force and armed with unemployment checks and G.I. Bill money, we were ready to take California by storm. Or have fun trying, anyway. We got by, that’s for sure. Doug and I were attending College in Sacramento, and we were in a ’Cultural Foods of the World” class together.Great gig,39 women and Doug and I, and all we had to do was show up, eat the food, tell the Ladies it was fantastic, and we’d get an ’A’, and a belly full of food to boot. Good times.for sure. Lots of concerts, road trips, all nighters, you get the picture. And, boy could that Guy cook. I could go on for days, literally, about the good times we had. Doug was my friend, and he was a stand up guy, really I was saddened to learn of his passing. Rest easy Brother Doug, I’m guessing you’re getting your fill of Robin Trower music, finally. I’ll catch you on the other side my friend.
