SHIRLEY MAE (JONES) FOX, of Carmel, Indiana passed from her life on Earth to her next life on September 26, 2008. She was born to Katherine & Lawrence Jones, one of ten children, in Logansport, Indiana on Feb 28, 1933. In 1954 she was married to Larry W. Fox in her home church, Market Street Methodist Church. They honeymooned in New York City and then embarked on an exciting 55-year marriage before her passing. She was an adoring mother to her four children. Shirley is survived by her husband, Larry; children, David Fox (wife Patricia), Bradley Fox, Diana Young, and Mark Fox; grandchildren, Krishna Jones, Lauren Fox, Tyler Fox, Zachary Young, and great grandson Christipher Jones. Shirley is also survived by seven brothers & sisters.Shirley was a talented home decorator and loved all beautiful things, faithfully planting flowers every spring. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 11:30 am on October 10, 2008 All family and friends, old and new, are invited to St. Luke’s. I just cannot imagine a world without Mrs. Fox in it. She has always been a constant for me, and she sure added more good times than I can count to both my and my children’s lives.

    Hello,

Although I did not know your loved one, Shirley Fox, I wanted you to know how much her obituary touched my heart. I am currently enrolled in an IUPUI course – the Sociology of Death & Dying, and one of our assignments is to write our own obituary. When I read Shirley’s obituary this morning, I was very touched. Not only did it tell the facts, but more importantly, it gave me a glimpse into a life well lived. I just wanted you to know that even though I don’t know your family, you have my deepest sympathy. Shirley must have been an amazing woman.

    Sincerely,

    Helen B.
