Story Title: bagels and coffee
By: morris profeta
over the last 15 years, sherry and i would get together for bagels and coffee at panera’s. up to and including the last time which was before she went to paris, she was always positive and upbeat. i would ask about her health and she would explain the readings. we would sit and talk for maybe 2 hours at a time. i always looked forward to these meetings.she also came to our home on holidays and to break the fast for yom kippur. she enjoyed it as much as we did having her with us. we considered her family. my wife and i were scheduled to see her sunday, she had arranged the time. we are both sorry we didn’t get to say goodbye. but knowing sherry as i have over the years, i feel she planned it that way. we miss her her now and will always miss her in the future. we truly loved our “family member”

So sorry to read in The Courier Journal this morning that Sherry had passed away and offer my deepest and heartfelt sympathy to all of her family. I have many wonderful memories of the Hamilton family from the “good old days” when we were all members of the old Jones Memorial UMC.

Sherry you did it your way. Your good humor and courage were remarkable and had their effect on us all and kept you with us a little longer. LOVE to you and your boys. Susie , Bob

There are not words to express our deep sorrow. You have been a dear friend for so many years. Your upbeat spirit through these years have made us realize that our problems are so small compared to what you have gone through. We will miss you dearly, but will always have your love to remember you by. Our prayers will continue for Drew and Nick.

I am so sorry to hear of Sherry’s passing. She was an example of strength faith and love. I first met her at the St. Vincent’s Emergecy Room where I had gone because of a painful abdominal Cyst. Sherry was the ultimate professional even when I kicked her accross the room (unintentionally of course). We became friends a few years later. I remember how over the top she decorated her home for Christmas and Halloween. Her Boys, Friends and Carmel UMC were everything to her. She was a joy to know and I am grateful for having had that opportunity

Peace be to you, Nick and Drew. Your mom was such a bright shining light in our church. Though we have not been part of CUMC since 2004, I have always remembered her energy, love and smile. She offered others such joy. Peace be with you as you figure out life without your parents. May the church family embrace you and love you. I pray one day, even in your loss, you, too, might experience joy as you remember her joy. God be with you, Trish (a minister at CUMC when you were boys and young teens)
