Rudy Hightower, Sr.Long-time public servant Rudy Hightower, Sr. passed away 03 March 2010 in Indianapolis, IN. Rudy served his community as a former Indianapolis Director of Housing and because of his tireless work, former Indianapolis Mayor William Hudnut officially proclaimed May 15th as “Rudy Hightower Day”. Rudy’s work as Director of Second Chance led to the employment of hundreds of Indiana residents and led to countless benefits for Indiana families. For over 20 years, Rudy Hightower honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant with Vietnam War experience. However, Rudy Hightower’s primary service role was that of a father. Rudy Hightower lived his life in accordance with the principle that a ’while a small man relies on his words, a superior man relies on his deeds.’ And Rudy Hightower’s deeds were many.He was a very good father and will be greatly missed by all those he touched, helped, and guided. Rudy Hightower, Sr. is survived by his wife Rebecca, his seven children, and his 17 grandchildren.Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Capital City Church of Christ, 42nd Street and Post Road, Indianapolis, IN

Rudy was a long time friend and colleague. We worked together to help those in need from the Public Assistance IMPACT program to the CDC’s that were founded by him. Rudy will truly be missed.
Rebecca and the family are in my prayers.
