Richard was the kind of guy who would always lift someone up when they are down, with his jokes, his laugh, and his smile. He was a hard worker and very knowledgeable. I can’t count the times i have called him when i’m stuck on a job, or broke down somewhere and he has come and helped me..no matter what he was doing at the time. I have seen him do this for others too. Richard cared about others more than himself. He taught me everything that i know about climbing and safety, and he has probably saved my life more than once. I will miss him a lot. I will always remember him as the guy that could do anything he set his mind or heart on. It’s going to be tough continuing work with out him, but i know what he would say, and what he would tell me to do. rest in peace Richard. You are loved more than you ever knew man.
Cherry Chase says

Richard was a sweet young man. I know he will be greatly missed.

To his family: I’m so sorry I can’t begin to express my sorrow over Richard…. I have so many memories of him, it astounds me how quickly they have resurfaced! I remember living with Diana and Rich and listening to the two interact. He was so sarcastic sometimes! Giving him his tigger, spending holidays with him and singing him to sleep. Who could forget the pellet gun incident or the hundreds of nights we walked to Perkins cuz’ we didn’t have cars and playing spades till 6 am. I remember when we went to Ivy Tech and he was so exited about his history teacher, lounging around and playing lots of tekken, taking him to church with me and getting into heated debate afterwards are just a few memories that resurfaced. He was so loving and sweet underneath any problems he had, his family and friends just couldn’t help but say ’that’s just Richard’ and let the rest go! He was very a giving, adorable person with a laughter that was contagious. I am so glad we we stayed close..He was one of my best friends and I feel lucky he valued me as such.

Richard- i’ve know you for over 12 years and i’m gonna miss you. I’m gonna miss hangingout with you and Jimmy (only we could call him that). I’ll never forget all the time we spent at perkins, or in hanna’s car. Being able to cross the lake and throw rocks at your window to hangout or ditch school. You were one of my best friends and you always will be. Diana – even tho i have already spoken with you on the phone, once again, I’m very sorry for your loss. Jimmy – You’ve lost alot of people in the past few years (your mom, jen and now Richie) i hope you can get thru this, i know you can, you know where to find me if you hit hard times. Richard, i know you’re up in heaven kickin it with Jim Haney and Jenny Hessman but try to remember to shine some light on me from way up there. This is not the end, i will see you again someday, just not today. Love you Richie and I love you all
-Jay

To The Family of Richard Malloy,
With sincere condolence on the loss of your loved one, Richard. I had the opportunity of meeting him last year while working at his place of employment. I found Richard not only to be a gentleman, but also a class act. He was the kind of person you’d meet and would not be a stranger for long. I still remember his contagious smile and kind spirit. I thank God for the time I shared in knowing him. May God’s grace and mercy comfort you all during your time of sorrow.

Marie Henson says
Despite the deep, aching loss and heartache of losing such a cherished friend, we want to thank Rick and Dianna Malloy for the wonderful gift of Richard, that graced our life for the last several years. We are forever changed and will always have an empty space in our home. We’ve lost one of the best friends we have ever had. He was one of a kind. It is too quiet here without his daily laughter and good nature.
God be with you both, until we see him again.

Jacqueline Hessman says
Richard was my friend and my brother. He never judged only showed his love. I used to talk to him for hours on every subject that came to mind. I will always have him in my heart. I remember when I was at his house and decided to braid his hair into little braids. Well, I took them out ,or so I thought. One braid remained. It ended in dreads ,which he didn’t mind at all. Later, he had to get his hair cut. He made me go with him as I was the reason. I felt aweful. He just gave me a huge hug and said that it was going to be alright. He was right. His hair looked great. He had the braid in his hand that had been cut out and just shook his head and laughed. He said, “I love you Jackie.” Good night my brother. I love you too. I’ll see you again someday. Until that day comes I will just have to hold you in my heart.

To Rick and Dianna; Thank you so much for having such an amazing son. It was wonderful to meet you all before I had to drive down south. I pray that you two soon have peace.
To Richard; All I’ve been thinking about lately is the shared memories that we’ve had and the good times that followed. Endless hours playing Tekken at your moms( Your Brian and my Marshall Law we’re bitter rivals!), the endless coffee pots at Perkins, Destiny War ’05, random cruises in my Mustang, and that perpetual smile of yours! I was really looking forward to the planned NOLA trip!! Miss and love you Richard-o
