Date Of Death: February 21, 2006

Richard (Richie) Michael Loyd, 14, son of Raymond and Tammy Loyd of Fortville, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at St. Vincent Children’s Hospital. Visitation will be at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Indpls, on Friday, February 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, February 25, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with service to follow. Richie was preceded in death by Brandon Loyd (brother), Richard and Marie Loyd (grandparents), and Connor Ledbetter (cousin). Other survivors include Michael and Susan Ledbetter (grandparents), five Uncles, five Aunts, and eleven cousins.

    I signed this earlier today but i didnt know what to say and how to say it. I know nothing will replace Richie. There’s a good reason why God took Richie from all of us, although we may not understand it. God took his only son away also and it was for a amazing reason. God must have had some powerful plans for him and he must have been so very important to God that he had to take him away from everyone so early.     I am so profoundly sorry to hear of the sudden loss of your beautiful earth-bound angel, Ritchie. Please know that he is in heaven because of the Christian beliefs you instilled upon him during his brief time with you.     I have been wanting to sign this for a couple of days now but was unsure exactally what to say. Then tonight something came to mind and I thought I’d share.
    The first real memory I have of Richie is from when he was real young, maybe four years old. He, RJ, and Aunt Sue/Mamaw were singing, “I may never march in the infantry, ride in the clavery……..I’m in the Lord’s army YES SIR!”
    I know that you raised him to love the Lord and it showed in his life, you can tell by the amount of people who have been touched by his life and expressed their condolances here.
    Know I am praying for you, as you have been in Robert,the Kids and my thoughts.

  61. Richie was an awesome kid with a great heart. I’m gonna miss him like crazy but I know he’d rather be nowhere than where he is now! He was a joy to know and he made me laugh alot. I’m so thankful for the time I had with him.

    My husband is a co-worker of Mike Hewitt and I used to work at Dr. Buchanan’s office. When we heard about your loss we were so shocked of course. We can only start to imagine what you and your family are going through now. We lost two infants at birth at different times and cannot imagine losing a 14 year old son. The only way we have managed to “make sense” of our losses is to “try” to find the good things that have and will come about because of his passing. It may take a long time to get to that point, but you will. Just remember that there is no “right or wrong” way to grieve or act in this time. Take advantage of those close to you that want to help.
    Well, I could go on and on, but I just wanted you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. I spoke to the girls at Dr. B’s office and I know how sorry they were as well.   98. wow, richie was one of the most amazing people that I have ever known. He made me want to change, to become a better person, and through him I was able to. He was always there to make me laugh, and even though we had our hard times, he never ever gave up on me. I know that he is in heaven looking down on me and now, because of him, I am able to look forward to seeing him when it is my turn to go. Until then, I know that he is up there looking down on me, us, and he will make sure we are kept safe and that, even though it is hard now, we are able to get over this and become stronger and stay strong and be happy. From the way he talked about you I knew that you had your hard times together, but I could also tell that he really looked up to both of you and that he loves you very very much.     You are in our prayers and know that we Love you both very much.

    Now we must concentrate on our memories of Richie. How he loved having us rub his back and playing games. How he loved it when ever he could euchre anyone, especially Papaw. He played just like him.

    But, we do have one thing for sure, he is with the LORD and is not in pain and has make a major impact on a lot of lives. Maybe that was his mission in his life. Although it was a short one. We are ever so thankful for the time that we did have with him. Thank You Lord Jesus for the memories.

  106. Ray & Tam, I am so glad we were able to get back for Richie’s funeral. We can certainly sympathize with you and have been where you are. Ours was not as sudden as yours but we know the loss you are feeling. Even though we don’t understand why these things happen, we know that God has a reason for it.
    You two are very special to us, along with your two brothers and their families. Since we haven’t been close to our kids and grandkids, you all have been like family to us. Richie was a good kid and we will always have good memories of him.
    Lean on each other but most of all, lean on the Lord and he will see you through the rough days ahead.

I know there are not enough words in the english language to tell you how sorry we are for your loss.I realize we were not fortunate enough to really get to know Richie first hand. But, through your parents, we knew him pretty good. He was one of those kids everyone just loved.     Dear Tammy & Ray………My heart is so heavy with sorrow. We are praying for both of you to have unyielding faith in GOD. He has HIS reasons, which we don’t understand. We just have to pray for understanding & guidance. I wish I was there to give you a great big hug. with the power to make all alright. I’m sure that with your undying faith in the good Lord Almighty that you will be able to ,in time, get on with your life. Richie will forever be in our hearts. He was a well respected young man with whom you can be very proud of,as are the rest of us. Our world is richer because he was here for awhile.
