Peggy, Kathy, Steve & Family…
As you probably realize, “Rick” has been be a familiar household name and dear friend for many years. Rick will live on in our family through the many memories he helped to create during our time together.
My familyÆs first though is the 4th of July and how it will never be the same. The many fierce and competitive firework battles our two familyÆs had will surely go down in history. We had family and friends come from afar each year to see our annual backyard fireworks war. Our family still reminisces about the year we had to throw the wicker loveseat into the pool to put the fire out (from the rocket Rick sent over) and then the year Rick came up waiving a white flag over the fence signaling defeat.
My husband still tells the story about the time Rick and his friends were practicing bow hunting in his backyard and the next morning we found an arrow stuck in the back of our house. OOops.. surely not one too many refreshments? In return my husband “accidentally” tossed a deceased cat over the fence into Ricks perfectly groomed backyard and then freely admitted to Rick it was him when asked. The look on Ricks face was pure disgust!
And last but not least, our all time memory of Rick. While swimming in our pool last summer some friends very politely saidà ôWhatÆs your neighbor doing?ö We looked up and there was Rick sitting in his lawn chair, cooler beside him, on his roof. We answered.. ôOh, thatÆs Rick, heÆs working on his roof.ö It seemed perfectly logically to us. Rick was just preparing for a hard days work. Our company had to stop and think about that one though.
P.S. Chelsea our daughter would like to add little something to all this. She thinks everyone should know it was at RickÆs house she saw her 1st Deer. Him being the hunter he wasà need we say anymore?
We loved Rick and are very thankful to have shared these and many other memories he left with us. Our family will miss dearly.
All our Loveà..
Your Neighbors,
Kim, Cathy and Chelsea Harmon

Justin, Peggy and Family:
Rick came into my world when I was 21 and a brand new mother. Danny and I had just moved to Frankfort to work at a Pest Control company. Rick was one of the salesmen, and with all of his “BS” he was a good one!!! With that being said in 1981, Rick and I began a friendship that spanned 26 years. He taught Danny how to hunt, me and Teresa how to be productive “deer widows” and was crazy about my daughter Heather.
By 1984 we followed Rick to Elwood to help manage his pest control business he owned with Dave and Wanda Croy. Now that was some really good times and yes alot of beer was consummed in the process.
Our lives changed and went in differnt directions in the 90’s yet I was able to stay in touch through Justin and I always knew that if I ever needed anything I could go to Rick and he would help me. Thankfully I never had to but it was nice to feel that security.
Rick was a wonderful guy that enjoyed good people, good stories and good beer.I will always cherish his memory and all of his crazy Cajun stories.
Jus, you have alot of your dad in you, so use your “genes” wisely and get your life headed in the right direction. Your dad would not have wanted it any other way.
Rick, I miss you but will never forget you……..
Love,
Julie Crull

Rich and I were in Nam together.
Wherever he was, I was there. We were tight. We were like brothers. Rich came to see me some years later. I looked for him from that time. I called VFWs from Mt. Carmel and all around, thinking that he tended bar at the VFW. I have looked on the internet for all of these years and hope he would show up. Today, MAY 11, 2007, I searched again for him, my friend for life, and discovered his obituary. I am very saddened that I had not found him sooner. Rich and I lived life together under tough times. He will forever be in my heart.
