N. Eliene Ely passed away April 12, 2012 at the Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN. Formerly of Union City, MI, Eliene was born in nearby Sherwood on March 12, 1916 to Frank and Beatrice (Woodruff) Parks. She attended Sherwood schools and a year of college. In 1935, Eliene married Walter Ely who succumbed to polio in 1940 leaving her with their three daughters. She worked 29 years for the Albright Construction Company and attended the United Methodist Church in Union City when able. She was a lifetime member of the Sherwood Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Eliene is survived by her three daughters: Dolores Ravenscroft of Burlington, CT; Gloria Judith (Richard) Gongwer of Marion, IN; Roslyn (Robert) Dennler of Kendrick, ID; and seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Guthrie of Battle Creek and one brother, Kenneth (Wilma) of Union City. She is preceded in death by an infant sister, Phyllis, her husband, parents, and sister Maragaret Arney, and brother Keith Parks.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Union City, MI. A date and time to be determined later.
