Date Of Birth: June 19, 1960
Date Of Death: April 1, 2013

Michael Phillip Soden, 52, of Fishers, passed away at IU Saxony hospital after a long valiant battle with cancer on Monday, April 1, 2013 with his beloved wife Jennifer at his side.

He was born June 19, 1960 in Indianapolis, the son of Wilbur and the late Betty Plew Soden.

Michael was a 1978 graduate of Harry E. Wood High School in Indianapolis. He later attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Michael worked as Maintenance Manager for several area apartment complexes, and as a deputy for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer Hawkins Soden of 10 years, whom he married on June 19, 2002. His son, Christopher Michael (Chantelle) Soden and siblings, Janice Roylston, Gary Soden, Cheryl (Kenneth) Moreland and Helen Scott. As well as his beloved cats.

He was a true friend to all who knew him, always willing to lend a helping hand at a moment’s notice. His overwhelming desire to help others led him to work as a deputy for the Marion County Sherriff Reserves.

Michael’s generosity of spirit was shown in so many acts of kindness, including the time he opened up his home for those displaced by a tornado and all the many times he provided aid to fire victims.

Very active in his community. Michael took pride in being caretaker of his community’s pool and most recently served as Homeowners Association President.

Loved by all whose lives he touched, Michael’s smile lit up a room. His laughter was contagious and he was never at a loss for words. Always having a new story or joke to share.

Michael had a strong belief in organ donation. As with Michael’s giving nature it is not a surprise that his final generous act was to give the gift of sight.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor at Hamilton County Humane Society.
A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, April 17th from 6-9 pm at The Delaware Township Community Center located directly behind the Delaware Township Government Center at 9094 East 131st Street in Fishers, IN. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

To my “Mikey” – missing you, Baby Bro. Still finding those pennies you leave me, still hearing your teasing phrases, wondering if you’re up there taking cars apart and not being able to put them back together again, and still eating your favorite breakfast of “eggies” HAA, THIS is the stuff that precious memories of made of. And YOU are one of those precious people who make those memories live on forever. Your Middle Sis, “Bebo”
