Date Of Birth: March 6, 1927
Date Of Death: June 5, 2013
Maurice Joseph Casey, 86, husband of Rita Cody Casey, his wife of sixty-four years, died at home in Indianapolis after a long illness. The cause of death was congestive heart failure. He was 86 years old.
Maurice (Moe) Casey was born in the Bronx in New York City on March 6, 1927. He was the only child of Patrick J. and Eileen Hanrahan Casey of New York and formerly of Kerry and Cork, Ireland. He was a graduate of St Francis of Rome Elementary School, Fordham Prep and Fordham University, and was a veteran of the U. S. Naval Air Corps during World War II. Casey spent his working career at NCR, retiring in 1988 as manager of Major Retail Accounts for the Northeast Region. His tenure saw the changeover from mechanical to computer accounting systems and bar code processors that transformed inventory control. He was a member of what is now called the Greatest Generation, those men and women who grew up during the Depression, fought and won World War II, and lived through seismic changes that came in the wake of the largest technical and economic expansion in history.
The Casey’s were longtime residents of Rye, New York, and also lived in Kettering, Ohio, Carmel, Indiana, and Wayne and Kinnelon, New Jersey. He was a silent partner with Rita in Century 21 Casey Realty in Wayne, Kinnelon, and Stockholm, New Jersey until they retired to Florida in 1988. After retirement they traveled widely with family and friends before moving back to Indianapolis to be close to family.
Maurice Casey is survived by his wife, Rita, and eight children; two daughters, Maura R. Casey, and Kathleen J. (Steven) Sears; six sons: Thomas P. Casey, Christopher M. Casey, Patrick J. Casey, Maurice (Marcia) Casey Jr., Dr. Philip C. (Kathryn E. Loesser) Casey, and William J. Casey; fourteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
