Story Title: the movies
By: Lara SerVaas
As a lover of classic cinemas and foreign films, I attended several showings at a cinema on 10th Street in Indianapolis. One evening in the early ’90’s, I literary ran into Loren as he exited his row while reading a magazine. He looked up, surprised to see me and mentioned, “I didn’t know you came here?” (The movie house is now closed–but it was a magnet for film lovers.)

To Billie, Sue, David, Brian and Jack: I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. John, Kristen and I visited with Loren in July. Our conversation reminded me of his generous and caring spirit . . . how he and his family had taken me in as an extra “child” during college and continued to show an interest in my life and my family throughout the years. I’m sure you take comfort knowing he was well thought of by others. Suzie Raber

To the family of Nils Montgomery
GÇ£You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all he’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what he’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.GÇ¥
