Larry loved his son. He talked about him often. I have dogs, Larry had rabbits. We talked about how special they were as pets. When we were all getting our jobs cut, Larry advised me to buy 2 years of PERF so I wouldn’t loose my 100% retirement benefits. I did. I ended up landing a promotion downtown. Larry was my friend.

Trilby Smith Idzerda says
Lest Larry be “smothered in a mountain of hagiography” (thank you, Molly Ivins, and may you rest in peace, too), let us remember that this was the boy who shot the Good Samaritan with his cap pistol when he was in a Sunday School play. And other marvelous exploits like mowing his name in the grass in the backyard and starting a small fire in the garage. On behalf of my sisters, Theresa and Julia, I would like to thank everyone who has visited this website and written a little something about our brother. It is heartening to me to see the merriment Larry spread into other lives, and to know that he went about doing good. And very dapper while he was at it. At my wedding this fall, Larry and my son Jack walked me down the aisle. I am forever grateful that we had that joyous time together. When I commented after the ceremony on how great Larry’s suit looked, he said, “Thank you…it was expensive…” I cracked up laughing. It was so unlike Larry to mention how much something cost. As Larry said in his toast to me and my new husband Chris, “I met Trilby when she came home from the hospital.” We met Larry at the hospital when it was time for him to go home. Godspeed, Brother Bun.
